George C. Konstantopoulos was born in Patras, Greece, in 1986. He received his 5-year Diploma (equivalent to MSc) and his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Patras, Greece, in 2008 and  2012, respectively, both first class. During his post-graduate studies, he received scholarship from the Greek State Scholarships Foundation (I.K.Y.) after successful examinations in the field of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

From 2011 to 2012, he worked as an Electrical Engineer at the Greek Public Power Corporation (D.E.I.) in Patras, Greece, conducting power flow and protection studies for the penetration of renewable power generation systems to the medium voltage grid. In 2012, he joined the Greek Army as a Computer Analyst/Programmer for his 9-month mandatory military obligations.

In May 2013, he joined the Department of Automatic Control and System Engineering, The University of Sheffield, U.K., as a Research Associate and since April 2016 he has been a Lecturer in the same department. His current research interests include Nonlinear Systems Analysis and Control, Power Converters, Midrogrids, Smart Grids, Stability of Power Systems, Renewable Energy Systems and Motor Drives.

Dr. George C. Konstantopoulos is a member of the IEEE and a member of the National Technical Chamber of Greece.
